Respect the River Project

Planting indigenous and endemic species in the areas where blue gum trees grew for decades, these soils are left very degraded and those are the sites where the indigenous seed bank is depleted. This is where planting back endemic species cultivated from and within our area is very important for stabilising the banks.

Planting a mix of indigenous trees & pioneer species with citizens of the Garden Route focusing on the communities and children that reside along the Malgas river.

 Focussing on areas where there are indigenous species growing but the exotics are taking over - This is where we can have a major impact on saving & conserving our natural seed banks within the soil. 

Secondary clearing after enormous blue gum trees have been cleared and indigenous trees have been planted.

Environmentally educating and inspiring individuals to care for the beautiful ecosystems that surround us.

Sharing knowledge about varies topics related to understanding ecosystems better: Indigenous & exotic tree identification, methods of clearing invasive exotic species, SAS tests to help identify quality of water in the river etc.

Collaborating with environmental companies to facilitate various topics.

Educating people on more efficient ways of dealing with non-organic waste materials so that it does not end up in our precious ecosystems.

Separate buckets and bags for collecting inorganic waste, such as: reusables, compostables, recyclables, single use plastics for eco bricks, glass and plastic materials that cannot be reused.

Monitoring & reporting sewage and grey-water overflow into the river.
