This is the start of a great collaboration. In February 2025, Respect the River Project started hosting bi weekly exotic clearing events with students from Up with Downs, sponsored by Natural Purpose. Every other Monday, the students from Up with Downs have committed to doing a litter clean up in the water course and over the past 2 months they have become custodians of the Malgas river ecosystem. This means that inorganic waste and exotics are being cleared out of the riparian zone, one day a week atleast, having a great impact over a longer period of time. These days are not just impactful on the ecosystem, they are also days filled with much excitement to do the work and knowledge on how we as humans can have a positive impact on our surrounding ecosystems.
